Best Product Management Podcasts

There are thousands of business and tech podcasts out there, all vying for your time and attention. Without reading dozens of different articles – all with the same suggestions, give or take – how do you narrow down that list to a reasonable five/six picks? And avoid listening to the same-old ‘expert’ advice, week after week?

Good news: we did that, so you don’t have to. When putting this list together, we chose podcasts hosted by PM thought leaders or experienced entrepreneurs, with an aim to filter out the fluff and the swindlers. Crucially, we wanted to curate a list that would help you expand your knowledge of different functions: design, marketing, engineering, and customer success.

So, whether you’re looking for ideas on how to strengthen your product messaging, boost conversions, create a smarter product strategy, or put popular agile methodologies into practice, there’s a podcast in this article for you.

Lenny’s Podcast

Lenny Rachitsky is one of the biggest voices in product management, with a strong background in building and growing SaaS products. Before pivoting into writing and podcasting, he was a Product Lead at Airbnb for over seven years, and a startup founder/engineer prior to that.

Each week Lenny interviews a fellow product leader, growth expert, or entrepreneur. Guests have included the likes of Bob Moesta, co-creator of the JTBD framework, and Claire Butler, Senior Director of Marketing at Figma. But not every episode is tech-focused – occasionally, guests offer career advice (such as how to avoid burnout) or share their life lessons.

We’d also recommend checking out Lenny’s weekly newsletter, which boasts 500K subscribers on Substack.

How to Win podcast with Peep Laja

Peep Laja’s How to Win podcast offers a deep dive into the challenges facing B2B SaaS product teams today. As the founder of popular tech companies, Wynter and CXL, Peep knows a thing or two about differentiation, but he doesn’t pretend to have all the answers. Through interviews with entrepreneurs and industry leaders, How to Win shares practical insights on growth, conversion, brand identity, and strategies for standing out in a saturated market.

In the show notes, each episode is broken down into a series of ‘key points’ with timestamps, so it’s easy to locate the best bits when you’re strapped for time. That said, each weekly episode is only around 25-30 minutes long, which makes it easy to squeeze into a commute or lunch break.

UX Podcast

What does ‘systems thinking’ have to do with user experience? How can we pitch our designs more effectively to stakeholders? And what is human-centered design, really? Per and James explore all of these questions and more on UX Podcast, a twice-monthly show that’s been around for over 10 years!

Per and James’s love for UX design is clear from the moment you tune in. Episodes are subject-led and include interviews with industry leaders from all over the world. Oftentimes, discussions address the practical implications of popular design methodologies or the challenges that product experts face today: think AI applications, policy in relation to design, and the impact of ego on UX. The variety and depth of these episodes are what make this podcast a must-listen for product experts everywhere.

Everyone Hates Marketers

You might be skeptical about adding a product marketing podcast to your weekly lineup, but hear us out. Everyone Hates Marketers, hosted by the brilliant Louis Grenier, isn’t your typical marketing show. Rather than talk about the latest industry ‘trends’ – or discuss the same-old psychological hacks – Grenier and his guests give practical advice on making your product stand out from the crowd.

Marketer Louis Grenier has over 10 years of industry experience and clearly knows his stuff. But it’s his no-nonsense approach that makes this weekly podcast so insightful and engaging. Tune in weekly for tips on crafting ‘unignorable content,’ generating ‘love-at-first-sight’ brand names, and breathing new life into your B2B messaging.

Giant Robots Smashing Into Other Giant Robots

Trust us, Giant Robots is a hidden gem of the tech podcast scene. Every week on Giant Robots, co-hosts Victoria Guido and Will Larry/Chad Pytel talk to the people behind successful SaaS companies, with guests ranging from CEOs and Product Directors to Researchers and CTOs. Regardless of your role or market niche, you can expect to come away from each episode with a fresh perspective on a well-known product or development approach.

Railsware’s PDM podcast experience

At Railsware, we’re always looking for opportunities to share the processes and strategies that power our products. Whether for webinars, podcasts, or here on the blog, we’ll take any excuse to discuss what it takes to build damn good products!

A little while ago, our Coupler.io Product Lead, Julia Ryzhkova, had the chance to speak on The Digital Project Management Podcast with host Galen Low.

So, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how our product managers build complex software solutions with fully distributed teams: ‘Project Teams Without Project Managers: Exploring The PM Dilemma’.

Special mentions

99% Invisible

The 99% Invisible podcast is perfect for any professional who’s interested in the design of everyday things, or ‘the thought that goes into the things we don’t think about.’ It’s a great place to find some inspiration, gather domain knowledge, and learn from the creative solutions of others. Topics vary hugely, from the history of vending machines to the evolution of search bars. To find the most relevant content, we recommend filtering by ‘technology’ on the website.

Stuff You Should Know

Stuff You Should Know co-hosts Josh and Chuck never fail to deliver fascinating, well-researched content. With episodes ranging from Your Gut is Also a Brain to The Ins and Outs of Beekeeping, this podcast is a mixed bag, but it’s also jam-packed with interesting facts about how the world works. With an archive of over 2000 episodes, you’re almost guaranteed to stumble across a topic that piques your interest.

The Behavioral Design Podcast

The Behavioral Design Podcast explores the real-world applications of behavioral science. Again, this podcast has little to do with product development, but it’s a great source of domain knowledge for PMs. When we grasp the factors that shape decision-making and habit formation, we can create better onboarding flows, more engaging CTAs, and higher-value products in general.

Episodes are released weekly and are hosted by behavioral science experts Aline Holzwarth and Samuel Salzer. Even if you don’t add this one to your list, we’d highly recommend checking out their extensive resource library or subscribing to the Habit Weekly newsletter.

Product, Explained

On Product, Explained, hosts Mike Alcazaren and Jeff Lee offer a behind-the-scenes look into a popular tech product. They dive into the history and evolution of products like Asana, Figma, Loom, unpacking the challenges these companies have faced and what makes them so successful. Mike and Jeff are product managers themselves, which makes their personal insights much more impactful.

This podcast almost made it onto our main list, but it had to be bumped due to the lack of new episodes. However, we still think it deserves a mention due to the podcast’s huge episode archive.

Other top-rated PM podcasts

That’s a wrap on our picks for the best product management podcasts. But we can’t neglect to mention these other hugely popular titles:

Final thoughts

Not every podcast on this list deserves a place in your weekly lineup. There are bound to be titles that don’t align with your exact interests, niche, or routine. However, we hope our suggestions provide you with a starting point for continuous learning as you work on leveling up your product management skills. Each podcast we’ve recommended has a track record for providing listeners with actionable advice – no fluff, no false promises. Hopefully, this allows you to weed out the so-called ‘experts’ and discover a few professionals worth learning from!
