After that we started getting support requests from users who were in the process of migrating their projects from Trello to Jira. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/railsware.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/migrate_trello_jira.png\" alt=\"Trello checklists migration to Jira\" class=\"wp-image-10837\" srcset=\"https:\/\/railsware.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/migrate_trello_jira.png 1200w, https:\/\/railsware.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/migrate_trello_jira-360x189.png 360w, https:\/\/railsware.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/migrate_trello_jira-768x403.png 768w, https:\/\/railsware.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/migrate_trello_jira-1024x538.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>These customers explained that as their teams grew, and the workflows became more sophisticated, they started to look for a tool that would:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Give more control over backlog<\/li><li>Allow for advanced planning<\/li><li>Provide task tracking functionality<\/li><li>Enable running of customized performance-based reports<\/li><li>Support managing of service desks<\/li><li>Maintain the knowledge base<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In this case, Atlassian with its rich product portfolio encompassing Jira Software and Jira Core, Confluence, Bitbucket, and accompanied by a large number of Marketplace add-ons, is able to satisfy all these requirements.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is why, what these teams were looking for when they came to us was an easy option for moving their data from Trello to either Jira Software or Jira Core. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having studied Atlassian Community forum <a href=\"https:\/\/community.atlassian.com\/t5\/Jira-questions\/Migrate-data-from-trello-to-JIRA\/qaq-p\/594358\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">threads<\/a>&nbsp;related to the topic, our team decided to review several options and come up with a handy list of recommendations one can use for this purpose.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Useful information created by Atlassian:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/confluence.atlassian.com\/adminjiracloud\/importing-data-from-trello-951386555.html?_ga=2.260245771.726547844.1535367503-2048050882.1511254800\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Importing data from Trello<\/a> document<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/confluence.atlassian.com\/adminjiraserver073\/importing-data-from-csv-861253680.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Importing data from CSV<\/a> document<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/1TNlaTPbE70\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">How-to: Import your Trello Projects into JIRA Software<\/a> video<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Tools and add-ons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.atlassian.com\/apps\/1218011\/trello-connector-for-jira-server?hosting=server&amp;tab=overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Trello Connector for Jira Server<\/a> &#8211; Atlassian Marketplace add-on (installed on at least 810 active instances)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.atlassian.com\/apps\/1215077\/trello-sync-for-jira?hosting=server&amp;tab=overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Trello Sync for Jira<\/a> (server) &#8211; Atlassian Marketplace add-on (installed on at least 342 active instances)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.atlassian.com\/apps\/1211486\/trello-importer-plugin-for-jira?hosting=server&amp;tab=overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Trello Importer Plugin for Jira<\/a> (server) &#8211; only 8 active Jira licenses with preinstalled add-on<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/trelloexport\/kmmnaeamjfdnbhljpedgfchjbkbomahp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Export from Trello<\/a> &#8211; a Chrome extension which allows you to export Trello boards to Excel spreadsheets, HTML with Twig templates, Markdown and OPML (5,917 users).<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/export-for-trello\/nhdelomnagopgaealggpgojkhcafhnin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Export for Trello<\/a> &#8211; a Chrome extension which allows you to export Trello boards to an Excel xlsx file (53,902 users).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Export Checklists from Trello to Jira<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>However, since checklists come as an in-built functionality for Trello, where Jira does not support it out-of-the-box, none of the options provided above supported the migration of checklists. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have also stumbled upon a dedicated question on the Atlassian Forum titled <a href=\"https:\/\/community.atlassian.com\/t5\/Agility-Beta-questions\/Migration-from-Trello-can-t-migrate-checklist-if-it-s-Jira\/qaq-p\/842306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Migration from Trello (can&#8217;t migrate checklist if it&#8217;s Jira Software)<\/a><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, moving from one system to another and losing the software development or business management related data that was initially documented as checklists is frustrating.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Smart Checklist Exporter Power-Up for Trello<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>That is why, having already gained experience in building the Smart Checklist add-on for Jira, our team decided to help users solve this problem. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We developed a Trello Power-Up called <a href=\"https:\/\/trello.com\/power-ups\/5b6c33b64d304480bf4d57b6\/smart-checklist-exporter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smart Checklist Exporter<\/a> which provides a very simple but crucial feature, which allows you to export<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>a single card checklist as a .txt file<\/li><li>all board checklists into a .csv file<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After <g class=\"gr_ gr_7 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep\" id=\"7\" data-gr-id=\"7\">that<\/g> a user may copy the checklist contents from the file and paste it into the Smart Checklist full-screen editor (as shown in this <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/TCvfg95GdmA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">video<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1221\" height=\"628\" src=\"https:\/\/railsware.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/checklist_trello_power_up-1.jpg\" alt=\"Smart Checklist Exporter Trello Power-up\" class=\"wp-image-10864\" srcset=\"https:\/\/railsware.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/checklist_trello_power_up-1.jpg 1221w, https:\/\/railsware.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/checklist_trello_power_up-1-360x185.jpg 360w, https:\/\/railsware.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/checklist_trello_power_up-1-768x395.jpg 768w, https:\/\/railsware.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/checklist_trello_power_up-1-1024x527.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1221px) 100vw, 1221px\" \/><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p><\/p>\n\n<figcaption>Smart Checklist Exporter Trello Power-up<\/figcaption>\n\n<p><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This is our first release of the Power-Up, and we are hoping to receive feedback from the users.
