Full Stack Ruby Engineer

We're looking for a great Software Engineer to join our team! The position will include building great products, tackling interesting challenges and contributing to our engineering culture. We expect you to work in pair, use test-driven development a lot, be experienced in building complex web applications, and write both clean and maintainable Ruby and Javascript code.

You should also understand design patterns, as well as have practical experience in DevOps, refactoring, debugging and agile development practices. And finally, you should have high-level self-management skills and be capable of controlling time and project status.

Your skills

  • Excellent general programming skills
  • Experience in Test Driven Development and pair programming
  • Experience in writing JavaScript applications using modern client-side frameworks e.g. React, Angular or Backbone
  • Comfortable with the UNIX/Linux command line
  • Practical experience with RDMBS
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related field
  • Fluent English (both writing and speaking)

What you will work on

We write Ruby code a lot, however our codebases are often polyglot and we keep on experimenting with technologies like Elixir or GO in real production. Therefore, additional experience in other languages and frameworks is of course a plus.

Your skills

  • 5+ years of experience in designing software

  • Strong portfolio with case studies that prove high proficiency in designing app for different industries (good Dribbble profile would do as well/ be a bonus)
  • Love for the design tools and frameworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sales and marketing experience is a big plus

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the design team including participating in interviews for new team members, coaching, performance reviews, 1on1s
  • Develop and push Railsware brand to a new level of consistency and awesomeness. Make sure our brand touchpoints are well maintained

We’re an engineering company and our guys write complex apps for clients in over 12 countries around the world. This will put you at the forefront of intricate flows, surprising personas and tons of products brewing over in our Railsware Labs.

Be prepared to keep up with our engineering and product teams and twist your head around really hard interaction problems including a good amount of data-heavy products. Apps would be your major focus, there is a potential to do a marketing site once in awhile, but it won’t be the core.

Your skills

  • 3+ years of experience shipping awesome products
  • Diversified portfolio of products you were a part of

  • Metrics and research-based decision making
  • Confident with low to high fidelity prototyping
  • Coding skills - layout and JS, as well as other prototyping tools like Framer or Origami are a big plus
  • Eagerness to learn new tools and be up-to-date with the industry

  • Understand business/user needs and suggest improvements
  • Define experience for new and existing features
  • Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups and wireframes to communicate interaction and design ideas
